History of Yellow Wings

Christian Strebel in airplane

Founded by Christian Strebel, an aircraft engineer and airline transport pilot. He holds a flight instructor licence, with extensive experience from the age of 16. He started flying with his Piper Super Cub across all bush airfields and airports within East Africa from 1987.

Incorporating Yellow Wings Air Services in 1996 and receiving the first Air Operators Certificate with the 2 seater SuperCub in 1998. After initially flying sales people of agro-chemical companies to remote farms, business soon evolved into charter and passenger transport . With flights now across a much larger region, there was need for a larger and faster aircraft fleet.

In April 1998, Yellow Wings acquired a 4 seater C182 and in 2003 went on to acquire its first of two piston powered C206 aircraft.

With the a fleet of 4 piston airplanes from 2-6 seaters Yellow Wings spread its wings and expanded into the expansive commuter market

In 2010, the company ventured into turbine engine operations, acquiring its first Cessna 208 Grand Caravan brand new from the factory.
The venture was such a success, and in 2011 Yellow Wings added a second Cessna Caravan into its fleet now operating the mixed fleet of both turbine and piston powered aircraft.
